Filler Masterbatch Introduction

Filler Masterbatch
Filler Masterbatch

Filler masterbatch is a pre-dispersed composite material produced by compounding a high proportion of inorganic fillers (such as calcium carbonate, talc, wollastonite, etc.) with carrier resins (such as PE, PP, etc.). As a functional additive in plastic processing, it is primarily used to reduce costs, improve performance, or impart special properties to materials.

Material Features

1. Cost Advantage
The inorganic fillers in filler masterbatch are priced significantly lower than resins, which can substantially reduce the raw material costs of plastic products (typically added at 10%-40%).
2. Performance Optimization

  • Mechanical Properties: Certain fillers (e.g., talc) can enhance material rigidity and impact resistance.
  • Dimensional Stability: Reduces shrinkage deformation and improves product warpage issues.
  • Thermal Properties: Some fillers (e.g., aluminum hydroxide) can increase heat resistance or flame retardancy.
  • Surface Treatment: Surface-modified fillers improve compatibility with resins, preventing performance degradation.

3. Environmental Protection and Processability
Some fillers (e.g., calcium carbonate) are degradable, reducing the environmental impact of plastics.
The pre-dispersed masterbatch form facilitates processing and avoids dust issues associated with direct use of powdered fillers.

Application

1. Plastic Film
Such as PE shopping bags and packaging film, calcium carbonate masterbatch is added to reduce costs and enhance stiffness.
2. Injection Molded Products
Talc-filled masterbatches are used in household appliance casings and daily necessities (such as buckets, basins) to enhance rigidity and dimensional stability.
3. Pipes and Profiles
Addition of Wollastonite Masterbatch in PVC/PP Pipes to Enhance Pressure Resistance and Weathering Performance.
4. Automotive Components
Mineral-filled compounds are used in dashboards and interior parts to reduce weight and enhance heat resistance.
5. Environmentally Friendly Materials
Adding calcium carbonate masterbatch to biodegradable plastics (e.g., PLA) reduces costs and accelerates degradation.
